As someone who has been spinning disco records (note the word record) for over 35 years I think I can speak with some authority when I say this is the worse 100 Greatest Disco 12″ I have ever seen. It was clearly compiled by someone who has no idea what disco is. Just to remind everyone, it’s music to dance to, loosen your inhibitions and make you feel good. Whilst there are a few tracks on the list that would pass muster in a ‘Best of Disco’ list, the ommissions are staggering. One Patrick Adams track? Nothing from Cerrone?
Nothing from Rinder & Lewis? No Gregg Diamond, not even Peter Jacques, let alone Don Ray as mentioned below and I think I missed anything produced or mixed by Tom Moulton. Sorry, but whoever did this list has a very poor knowledge of disco.

The reactions of some people here make me think they’ve never understood what disco music is about. At least they didn’t got touched by the vibe and soul of disco.
It’s not about hate. It’s about dancing, it’s about smiling, it’s about not taking everything too serious, it’s about loving (especially physically 😉 Where is all this complaining coming from for a topic which is – in the world we live in – more than irrelevant.
It’s just a list of disco-music releases – not more and not less. Generally I think it’s impossible to list tracks seriously by any value. Therefore music is a too subjective matter. If you want a standard billboard list about disco music with all the big names everyone knows then there are a lot of possibilities in the web. Use spotify or itunes lists for example. I personally like this offered list here, cause it has personality and it’s not generated by any bots, but made by a regardful person (or group).
Furthermore i found some good new tunes i didn’t know yet, although i listen a lot of disco music. So, please dear people calm down and start thinking by yourself.

This is no more than an attempt to try and impress us with a load of uninspired, hard-to-find (allegedly, point in case being Oneness of JuJu, which concludes its description with “Original 1980 copies are extremely rare” – they’re NOT!, although it is a funky slice of groovealishousness), and (most of ’em) absolute cr.p records. Did someone go and buy a box entitled “Disco Job Lot” and there happened to be 100 12″ers in it or something? Yep, fair do’s there are SOME good one’s in here, but in the main this is just sh.t. How can you have a top 100 without the one of the best (come ON people, back me up on this) 12″ records of all time missing???

I say “mixed” but in fact the label quite clearly say “Disco Blending by Walter Gibbens” so there can be NO dispute it is a DISCO record! Sack the board! Out with the Chairman! 1 record each – I’ve already named mine (don’t care what number you want to give it, let’s just get 100 PROPER Disco records listed)! Wow, a lot of haters in these comments, mostly complaining of omissions of popular tracks from back in disco’s heyday. I like that this list includes obscure and international tracks that have been rediscovered in various dance scenes (over the LAST 40 YEARS by the way) A lot has happened in that time. There’s a whole world out there people!
Disco is about opening your mind and freeing yourself on the dancefloor! Open yourself up to new musical experiences. I spin “disco” on vinyl every Saturday, both new and old and and have many of these records, play the hits and the weird ones and Brazil, and African, and Island, and Italo, and Balearic, and etc etc.
There were hundreds of thousands of disco 12″s. Why limit yourself?
