We added two new types of data arrays with this release:Formula-driven assumptions, andTriangle index arrays. Formula-driven Assumptions – Most of the system’s column-format assumptions (B/F a priori loss ratios, average loss rates, etc.) have been converted from data entry columns into tables that allow you to review and select from multiple sources. Like the Comparison of Ultimates reports, these new tables allow you to compare various options, weight them if appropriate, and select by exposure period.
A common use for these will be in selecting such items as a priori loss ratios from several tables that provide different options for looking at possible loss ratios. Triangle Index Arrays – These special tables allow you to de-trend a triangle to account for inflation or other similar adjustments. The resulting table is a triangle of indices that you can then multiply against another existing data table to derive an adjusted version of that table. Arius currently uses a triangle index array in the Berquist-Sherman Adjusted Incurred Loss and Adjusted Incurred ALAE methods.
The triangle index array is used to adjust the Case Reserves per Open Claims to derive an adjusted average case reserve amount. You can create your own triangle index arrays to help with many other indexing and detrending needs. There are a number of new system objects and methodologies to help in special situations in deterministic analyses.

Selected Proportion Earned arraysIn cases where your earning pattern might not directly match Arius’ default uniform pattern, the system now provides the ability to derive an earning pattern more appropriate for your needs. You can now display column averages, linear trends, and exponential trends fit down virtually any column in a method or report. You can edit and add these calculations to existing user-defined methods and reports, and can add them to any new methods and reports you create.We revised formulas in the Actual vs. Expected reports so that columns that were pulling from selected patterns are now pulling from prior patterns.
