I'm trying to extract Word Documents that are stored in a LONG RAW column in Oracle using VB.NET and ODP.NET. I am able to do this using the GetBytes method of the Reader Object. Unfortunately when I open the file using word, all I see is gibberish. Greg, Thanks for your reply. Interesting.It seems that the type casting of the OracleBinary structure to a Byte array is working in your C#, yet the equivalent code in VB.NET is not.

At least it doesn't work in Framework version 1.1.

Am I somehow screwing up this type casting, or maybe I need to just try and write the Application in C#. Since we are just casting that OracleBinary type to a byte array, what exactly is the difference between or advantages of GetOracleBinary as opposed to GetBytes?Bill.
